Steve Georgiou
The Thursday Murder ClubSteve Georgiou is a former associate of Tony Curran’s crew who later established Steve’s Gym, a well-regarded local business. His encounter with Chris Hudson and Donna De Freitas places him at the edge of their search for Gianni Gunduz: Steve denies Chris’s theory, yet gives him money in circumstances that suggest he knows more than he says.
Earlier Associations
In the original Tony Curran file, Steve appears among people who had been around the crew in its early days. His name had been mentioned in reports, but the available information gave investigators no grounds to bring him in. Whatever he did for Tony Curran did not last long; Steve had opened his gym years before Chris and Donna revisited the old network.
Steve’s Gym
By the time of the investigation, Steve’s Gym had grown into a busy establishment with a strong reputation. Chris and Donna knew officers who trained there and regarded them as decent professionals, a contrast to the poor standing of some other gyms. During their visit on a Wednesday afternoon, the gym was occupied by people working quietly rather than showing off. Steve met the detectives at the door with a firm handshake and a broad smile, then spoke with them in his office while sitting on a yoga ball.
The Search for Gianni Gunduz
Chris reasons that if Gianni had returned to the United Kingdom, he would probably have needed help from a fellow Cypriot. He raises the possibility that Gianni had approached Steve for somewhere to stay and for help keeping a new identity out of local records. Steve shakes his head and denies that this happened. The exchange leaves the suspicion unresolved: Chris has a theory, not a direct admission from Steve.
The Money and Its Implication
Steve then asks Chris to put an item in Lost Property. From a drawer he produces a clear plastic wallet containing five thousand euros, saying that someone dropped it a couple of weeks earlier and that he has repeatedly tried to find its owner. Chris considers whether the cash might carry prints, but doubts it; more importantly, he understands Steve’s gesture as an acknowledgment that his inference is right. Steve refuses to keep the money because he knows where it has been. The scene does not establish precisely what help Steve gave Gianni, but it makes his denial less conclusive and presents him as a careful, guarded link between the old crew and the investigation.
